Data collected by the partnership found that there are 100 transportation and warehousing operations in the county and that between 2001 and 2017, employment in the sector has risen 21 percent from 1,470 jobs to 1,772 jobs. The partnership also says that the average annual wage in the sector has increased, from $36,221 in 2007 to $46,755 in 2018, a 29 percent rise that the group says is above the state and national average.

Miriam Dushane has been recruiting for more than 20 years, and today is managing partner of Alaant Workforce Solutions. Dushane said it remains challenging to place people in technology jobs, but it is not impossible. At Alaant, recruiters will first tap into the network of people they know in the region. About 60 percent of the candidates they talk to are passive candidates who are not actively looking for a job but are open to learning more. People are looking for more out of a job than just a steady paycheck, Dushane said, and are willing to move for the right benefits and company culture.

Watertown Daily Times: Firm to Build Six Solar Arrays to Serve Consortium
The group of schools, towns and villages working together to reduce their electricity costs have signed a deal with a developer to build solar arrays and provide them with energy. U.S. Light Energy, Latham, has agreed to erect six arrays, each one two megawatts, for the Tri-County Energy Consortium. The overall 20-megawatt project will include almost 46,000 panels and generate about 20 million kilowatt hours of electricity, enough to power about 2,000 homes.
